Boston Dynamics puts $100M into a new robotics and AI manufacturing center

Boston Dynamics is investing $100 million to convert a 323,000-square-foot building on Trapelo Road in Waltham, Massachusetts into an advanced robotics and AI center, consolidating operations currently spread across three nearby sites.

The Healey-Driscoll administration is backing the move with a $25 million state incentive award, and the company expects the expansion to add up to 1,250 jobs by 2033, spanning manufacturing, AI research, and workforce training.

Boston Dynamics plans to move in starting mid-2027 — a long runway, but a clear signal that legged and mobile robotics is scaling from lab-and-demo work into real production capacity, right alongside the industrial-arm makers it increasingly shares customers with.
